Upcoming events: poppies, shoeboxes, hope and remembrance

Acts of Remembrance

At this year's Remembrance Sunday service (Sunday 9th November, 10:45am) we will remember our own relatives who served in WW1. If you would like a relative included please speak to Derek Collins.

The Church will also be open for prayer on Armistice Day (Tuesday 11th November) with music from the Community Choir (10:30-11), a brief act of worship including the 11am silence, followed by time for quiet reflection (until 2pm).

Two kinds of poppy are available for purchase at St Andrews in advance of 9th November:

  • Poppyscotland is the Royal British Legion charity in Scotland, and is one of this year’s chosen charities by the President of the Sheffield Caledonian Society. On Sundays 26 October and 2nd November, Julia MacNamara, the President’s consort, will be selling Poppyscotland poppies for Remembrance  after the service.
  • White Poppies for Peace. If you would like a white poppy to wear with your red one, please order it from Judith Adam. Suggested donation £1.
